Hi Farhan

Thanks for those, will take a look. The problem I had was that this was a custom Wordpress setup which did it's own registration so none of the spam catchers came up. The solution was very simple in the end, as they always are, I just added a field to the custom registration page which asked what 2+3 was and validated that on the registration page. Ugly and not really good as updates to wordpress will break it but solved the problem and gave me time to redo my own custom registration page which used a template so updates would be fine.

I have to say I am now a big fan of Wordpress as it has a huge amount of customisation and all the hard stuff is done for you, just hook in and off you go.

Try using the User Spam Remover http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-spam-remover/ - I was looking to solve the same problem, and fortunately, now it's sorted!! Spambots, bye bye!! You may also want to include the Growmap antispam bot plugin - http://blazingminds.co.uk/growmap-anti-spambot-plugin-wordpress/ - sounds like it too could help with dealing/managing spam..
Best of luck!
