Has o2 jumped the shark ?

I have been with o2 for quite a few years now and overall been quite happy with them. All that changed today with the new tariffs for the iPhone 4. I originally moved from the poor service at Orange because o2 had an a la carte menu of things I used. Now I have to have unlimited texts but pay individually for MMS messages, my unlimited data has gone. o2 say that this won’t affect 97% of users so why not just boot them off.
Sorry in a world moving to inter communication via the web this is a step in the wrong direction.
